Our Meetings

Each meeting canvasses a specific topic selected in advance by one of our members. Anyone in the group can nominate a topic and moderate the subsequent discussion.

A topic can be drawn from any area of interest and it is not uncommon for subsequent discussion to draw upon any of the many areas of historic and contemporary philosophical thought.  Having said that, there is no expectation of prior expertise in philosophical studies.

The meeting structure is informal and normally consists of an initial presentation on the topic for the month as provided by the moderator, followed by group discussion and debate.

The primary purpose is to draw upon the experience and wisdom of the group to gain new perspectives through which we can see and make sense of the world.

Our Values

We adhere to values of humility, courtesy, openness and rationality.

We do this through courteous, in-person discourse.
